To empathize with the users who would use the product, we conducted user interviews in order to understand their needs. Doing interviews also helped us in understanding the client's workflow and current practices.
"Our current process is completely manual, and we want to digitize our process to make it accessible for our jurisdiction"
"My job is extremely critical, I don't want any complicated computer actions"
"My work is usually of data entry and review. And i want the same process in the digital form. "
After conducting the user and stakeholder interviews, we analyzed the data gathered and discovered insights that will drive our design decisions. When empathizing with the user, we realized that the tasks were repetitive. This increased the chances of error and we decided to make the process efficient.
Since our client was remotely based, I ensured my team invested significant amounts of time in designing the wireframes and sharing it with the client to get their feedback. We performed several iterations on the high-fidelity wireframes since our client emphasized on visuals on the wireframes. Below are the snapshots of the high-fidelity wireframes shared with the client before handing off to the developers.
There were no competitor products in the market, which made it challenging to get a hang of the domain knowledge at the start of the project. However, the product requirement specification document shared by the client was explicit helped us frame our design process and design deliverables.
Furthermore, this project was put on hold since a year and due to this, the client expected the deliverables quickly. Consequently, we had to run through our design process in a short span of time. I also got a firsthand experience collaborating with a team member who was based in another city. It was challenging to collaborate initially, however, as time progressed, we were successfull.
